actually i really wanted to write about something else. but after surfing the net for quite a while, my thoughts suddenly changed and i feel kinda sad after reading an article and later watch some videos related to that article. at first i was just browsing around for infos and updates on malaysia these days. whatever news there are i'll just read and filter them thoroughly before i take them as facts.
at the beginning, i thought about writing some reply to what one of my friend had written regarding to the political condition in our beloved motherland. but then i kept on surfing and suddenly remembered about the bookmarks i've made before this and went on checking it. to my surprise, there were tons of websites list appearing as i clicked on the bookmark toolbar. and i didn't even remember bookmarking some of them. huhu.. then i went on clicking on those websites and surf each and every one of them attentively. after strolling for quite a while, i stumbled upon this website or a blog more precisely. it was about the astrayness of the group called wahabbi.
this wahabbi group had been preaching their version of islam since a long time ago and they even have their own well-knowned preacher in malaysia at the moment. starting out from being a lecturer in a local university, this man later became the mufti of a northern state of peninsular malaysia. after resigning the post, he became quite popular. having his own tv show and also a very own column in a prime local newspaper. but since, his views on many things are sometimes (or maybe always) against the main stream of islamic teaching in the country. especially in the 'furu' things. (perkara2 ranting dalam islam) thus, he is labelled as wahabbi by some. as the climax of this not-yet-ended story, he was captured by a local state islamic authority for teaching without 'tauliah'.
it had been quite a while since the incident of Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin's (Dr. MAZA) arrestment, so i think maybe the issue had been forgotten and fade away with time. but my thought was absolutely wrong. recently in a tv show called al-kuliyyah, the issue of 'satu aqidah' (one faith) was discussed and the panelist were Al-Fadhil Dr. Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady, Dr. Mohd. Asri Zainul Abidin and Dr. Fauzi Deraman. here, things like the faith in mazhab and also the credibility of the great imams like imam syafie and imam ahmad are debated. it was generally an unfair 2 against 1 fight but the conclusion made by Al-Fadhil Dr. Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady really touches me.
enough writing, i think its better to watch this ourselves and then think about it.
